If I was to start a web host

I would go around buying lots of blogs like this site for sale on SitePoint today, it has traffic and even revenue, it’s not too expensive, but unless you’re going to leverage it to start something like a webhost, or a webhost directory, it’s a waste of time.

It’s a time consumer, for the amount of time that would go into finding bits to blog about and then blogging them; it’s not worth the money it makes.

Unless you had 5-10 of these blogs, and then used all the traffic coming in to then push your own host, or a host directory that you could sell advertising on, then you’re only going to want to offload this site again, or let it die eventually.

To start a host now days – in this super saturated market you need something different and you need a source of traffic to reduce your marketing costs.

Your marketing costs will be your biggest killer with starting a webhost, so having a portfolio of sites that bring in traffic and pay for themselves will solve part of that problem.
